The House of eMaGi is excited to announce two upcoming events that will highlight the powerful intersection of fashion, body positivity, and mental wellness. The “Dress for Inner Success” Fashion Show Competition will take place on October 12, 2024, followed by the “Look Good, Feel Good” Mental Health Education Symposium on October 13, 2024. Both events will be hosted at the Central Library – Special Events Center in downtown Austin.

“Dress for Inner Success” Fashion Show Competition (October 12, 2024 – 4:00 PM – 7:30 PM)
Under the theme “Look Good on the Outside, Feel Good on the Inside,” the fashion show will spotlight seven emerging designers, each showcasing collections that promote body positivity, body appreciation, and body diversity, encouraging attendees to embrace their unique beauty and self-worth. Participants will compete for top honors in the following categories: Adherence to Theme, Aesthetic Appeal, Craftsmanship, Creativity, Functionality, and Originality.
The event will be headlined by America’s Next Top Model Alum and Supermodel, Bianca Golden, and promises to be a celebration of creativity, empowerment, and the transformative power of fashion. Esteemed fashion industry professionals, including Dr. Leverne Witherspoon (CEO of Texas Minority Fashion Week), Michelle Washington (Host of TV Show “Behind the Seams”), Theresa Satterwhite (Owner of Luxe Loft Model & Talent Agency), Richard Samuel (Owner of RichesArt Gallery), and Fashion Model & Stylist Tam Brown will serve as judges. The evening will also feature a live performance by Louisiana-based rapper Cherelle K.
“Look Good, Feel Good” Mental Health Education Symposium (October 13, 2024 – 3:00 PM – 6:30 PM)
The symposium will offer a comprehensive and interactive learning experience focused on positive self-image, inner confi dence, and self-actualization within the context of overall wellness. The event includes moderator-led panel discussions, keynote speeches, artistic expression performances, and art therapy group activities. It will be open to the public and provides valuable insights and practical tools for individuals seeking to improve their mental health and well-being. Discussion topics will cover areas such as Beauty & Personal Appearance, Weight & Body Image, Marriage, Divorce & Relationship Issues, Men’s Mental Health & Disenfranchisement, LGBTQIA Challenges, and Sickness & Death Trauma.
Keynote speaker Larry Wallace, Sr., Founder and CEO of the Black Men’s Health Clinic, will headline the symposium. Panelists from various organizations, including WithinHer, Out Wellness, Integral Care, Jayme Shiarla Coaching, Veterans Lifeline Global, Harvest Trauma Recovery Center, and Curtesia Plunkett, PhD, will share their expertise.
