Former Roc-A-Fella associate pleads guilty…
According to a report by The New York Daily News, a former Roc-A-Fella associate by the name of Manuel Geovanny Rodriguez-Perez has admitted to ordering nine murders and 10 attempted murders.
Rodriguez-Perez, also known as ‘El Monstruo,’ was credited for helping to launch Jay Z’s music career alongside Kareem ‘Biggs’ Burke. But while Rodriguez-Perez was becoming well-connected in the music industry and putting out hit records, the 43-year old was also found to be circulating in the drug scene by running a massive marijuana market. That is, amongst other illegal practices from the early 1990s until roughly 2010.
The US district Court of New York found Rodriguez-Perez guilty of being part of an ‘enterprise’ whose members engaged in not only murder and attempted murder, but also narcotics trafficking, money laundering, unlicensed money transmitting, and bank fraud. The ‘Rodriguez operation’ was largely operating across New York, but also invested in property in Florida and the Dominican Republic.
Rodriguez-Perez pleaded guilty in Manhattan Federal court for organiing crime and conspiracy, with the potential for life in prison. Rodriguez-Perez’s lawyer, Richard Ware Levitt, says ”he’s accepted responsibility for his conduct, and now we’re moving towards his sentence.” |via|
