Jay-Z’s Roc Nation – May Sign Kevin Durant

Reports are that Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant has parted waysJay-Z with agent Rob Pelinka and could align himself with Roc Nation Sports. This according to a report from Sports Business Journal on Friday night.

USA Today, meanwhile, reported that Durant will go without an agent because he is signed with the Thunder thourgh the 2015-16 season. Durant’s interest in music mogul Jay-Z’s agency is for marketing purposes.

Pelinka’s Landmark Sports Agency represented Durant for about 15 months after he split with longtime agent Aaron Goodwin in February 2012. Pelinka also represents Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant and Houston Rockets guard James Harden.

“We are honored and blessed to have worked on behalf of Kevin, for a brief period of time,” Pelinka said. “He is an amazing person and athlete, and we are proud of our work and service towards advancing his brand in a manner that reflects the mutual qualities we share with Kevin. We wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors.”

The 24-year-old Durant, a three-time NBA scoring champion an a first-team all-league player the past four seasons, signed a five-year, $85 million contract extension in the summer of 2010.

Roc Nation Sports, which Jay-Z started earlier this year, is a partner with Creative Artists Agency. Athletes who have joined his agency so far include New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano, New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith and Tulsa Shock guard Skylar Diggins.
